The ULTIMODE M-1G/SFP media converter converts the Ethernet signal from STP/UTP twisted-pair cable to optical fibre. The optical interface is provided by a replaceable SFP module, so the same converter can be used with single-mode or multimode fibre, over two fibres or over a single fibre with WDM/CWDM. The optical transmission parameters depend on the selected SFP module, and when the network is expanded it is often enough to replace only the module.
Features
- 1 × 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet port (RJ45), automatic MDI/MDIX detection
- SFP slot for IEEE 802.3z 1000Base-FX modules
- Store and forward verifies received data with a checksum
- Compatible with 10Base-T, 100Base-TX and 1000Base-TX/FX standards
- LEDs: PWR, 1000M, Link/Act, FDX, SD
- Plug and play installation, external power adapter included
Specifications
- Optical interface: SFP slot, 1000 Mb/s
- Fibre type: single-mode or multimode depending on the SFP module
- Range: depends on the SFP module, e.g. 2–40 km
- Supply voltage: 5 V DC, 2 A (external power adapter)
- Operating temperature: 0…+50 °C
- Dimensions: 97 × 73 × 27 mm
Compatible SFP modules
The converter works with Gigabit SFP modules (1.25 Gb/s, 1000Base-FX), for example ULTIMODE SFP-203G (L1415): two single-mode fibres, 1310 nm, LC duplex, range 20 km. The converter does not work with Fast Ethernet SFP modules (155 Mb/s, 100Base-FX).
Please note
- The SFP module is not included.
- If the converter does not work with a switch from another manufacturer (e.g. TP-Link), set the Duplex setting of the switch optical port to AUTO.
- Do not look directly into the fibre port while the device is in use – invisible laser radiation can damage the eye.
